Sunday, Sunday

You will have to bear with me as I get all of my "new snow" photos out of the way!

This was Sunday:

Loads of new snow (are you surprised?)
A morning hike up on the hill to play in it
A random interaction with a broke down traveler from Sacramento and his lovely dog
New vintage sheet and Pendleton Wool shirt from Thriftown
Open-faced turkey sandwiches ..yum!
A lazy afternoon spent at the Leprechaun Bar with friend Rita and football
Not so great bar sandwich
Yummy Bobsled beer (smile)
Drive uptown through the snow and blow and ice and drift
Fantastic outdoor lights display (see the post below)
More driving through snow and blow and ice and drift
Late night pizza brought home by Ryan ..he ran over two snow covered curbs getting it
Cozy couch snuggle to "Get him to the Greek"
Lots of laughing out loud

Lights!

It has been dumping down snow on Salt Lake City for the last few days, and to get out of the house, we ventured out to check out the lights at Temple Square in downtown. It was beautiful. Fun driving there in the snow, and fun wandering around.

Here are the two odd things that happened to us while we were there:

1. Due to the crazy deep snow on the roads, we almost stepped out in front of a train and the conductor tisk-tisked us by gently sliding one finger down the other while giving us a disapproving glance ...completely deserved.
2. Some random group of very well dressed, older visitors started an unaggressive snowball fight with us. No one won.

Happy Turkey Day!!

There are a lot of things that I am thankful for this year, and being able to hop into my car, with Dingo, and drive home to cook and eat with my family (minus the midwest team ...hi Erin, see you soon!) is one of them. Here is a photo tour from my drive home this morning going from SLC into Wyoming.

You will know you are in Wyoming when the road is just ice!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Vintage Photos

Ryan and I went to check out an Antique Mall in downtown SLC a few days ago, and when I left I couldn't stop thinking about these photos taken at the Grand Canyon!

Today, while running some errands I stopped back in and picked them up! I have plans to use them in an upcoming project and I will post them again when I do!

New Red Filing Cabinet

I have had a plan in the back of my mind for a while now to organize my crafting supplies. They have totally taken over my second bedroom ...it's funny. Ryan fully agrees with this plan.

..so, the other day while I was rummaging through the DI thrift store, I stumbled upon this...

And it seemed like the perfect place to start. I got it home in the trunk of my small car, which was a funny sight to anyone who witnessed it, and when I cleaned it up I found that it was ironically filled with glitter, pins and these buttons..

So perfect. Whomever had owned it previously had used it for crafts as well.

Finished Thanksgiving wreath

I finally got to work on my mystery project this last week, just in time for Thanksgiving. I may have ripped the fabric a little long, but I really like how it turned out.

To create this wreath I purchased 5 quarter yards of autumn print, cotton fabric, and I found 1 wire hanger. I bent the wire hanger into as perfect a circle as I could get, keeping the top twist and hook in place. Then I shredded the fabric into strips, and tied them, one at a time, onto the circular hanger with a simple knot. That's it!

You can click on my original post that shows my fabric choices here.

I found the idea to do this project on one of my favorite blogs, A Beautiful Mess.

Oh, the weather outside is..

It's snowing outside right now ...really snowing. When I walked over to the grocery store to return an overlooked redbox rental from Wednesday (oops) the large flakes kept landing on my eyelashes. It was funny. It made me giggle, and it really made my mascara run. Why am I telling you this, you ask? Because I can. Because today is all about sitting around and contemplating the life that I lead ...and doing laundry.

...and arguing with Ryan. Not sure what we find to bicker about, but we do. Does everyone? I'm sure that they do, but I don't see it so much in everyone else's relationships ..unless you count my young, slightly ghetto neighbors, but they fight a lot, it seems like their thing. We just don't see eye to eye on things sometimes and we don't communicate well about not seeing things the same.

One thing that I will say positively about it all is that we can make-up really quick, and that we are usually both quickly ready to say "I'm sorry." Is that what matters? Is being able to make-up quick a bigger plus than being super quick to fight a negative? Did that even come out right? Maybe I'll know someday. Or, maybe I won't.

Here are some photos from my mascara melting walk :)

California fun

Good morning blog viewers! It feels wonderful to be computing from my living room again. I have a loner computer from work at my disposal for the weekend! ..yay. (sigh) I had no idea how much I had missed reading my favorite blogs from the sofa while watching random TV. Maybe it's time to super prioritize healing up my laptop.

To celebrate ...and also because I had time and found this image today I am going to share it with you.

The beautiful woman on the right is my good friend Janique ...and the intrigued man on the left ...??, don't know! The photo just makes me happy, and she looks wonderful, so hello Janique ..we are thinking of you!

Sewing for Grown-ups!

These last few weeks have been super busy around the studio. We have been designing a series of matching gowns for grown-ups and little girls. We joked a lot about being a couture house due to the massive amount of hand sewing that went into the grown-up version.

This is an image from the middle of this week, I'm finishing up the lining on the first dress.

Working on Saturday.

Working on Saturday can be either great, or a real bummer. Today leans more towards the first! Not that being at the office today is awesome, but the following things are...

-The drive here was beautiful ...actually it usually is. I should photographic more. With new snow on the mountains, low cloud cover and sun-dogs, it's hard to look at the road!
-Dingo is here, too!! ...he had to sniff all around downstairs and up. Now he is resting at my feet. He's so cute.
-My outfit! It worked because I got plenty of sleep, I was excited about it when I went to bed, and I took a little more time than usual getting ready ...it is a Saturday after all.
-and ...I really like what I will be doing today.

Hope you are enjoying your Saturday as well!

E-town ..just south

This last weekend I went home for a visit. The first two photos are from the drive there, both within 3 miles of the house, and the third, surprise! ..is a moose lazily walking away from my car as I drove the last stretch of dirt road.

Ah, Wyoming.
