This band had just decided on the name when I moved to town to go back to school, and now, almost 3 years later I am finishing up school and they have just released their first CD. It's wonderful. I took these shots with an LCA+ camera and colorsplash flash.
In March I took an educational trip to New York City with the Design and Merchandising department at CSU. We spent 8 days visiting designer studios, workspaces, showrooms and production areas. A lot of photographs from this trip have already been showcased on this sight. Mostly i have shown personal pictures that I took while roaming the city, but now I would like to begin to share some of the in studio pictures. This is the first, and ironically the last showroom I shot in the city. The clothes are from the fall 08 line and the girls are design students, or employees of the company. I hope you enjoy looking at these as much as I enjoyed taking them.
Matt Thorton of Motorhome at Hodi's in Fort Collins, Colorado shot with an LCA+ with multiple exposure and no flash. This band is awesome and is slowly climbing the steps to seeding the country with their music. They hold a special place in my heart, and their pictures will grace this page from time to time. Enjoy.
"That goddamned pyramid-headed, grub-eating, drug-drinking, curse-leveling savage from the Amazon bush could have been right on the money when he concluded that it was Western man's comedic sense-his penchant to jibe and quip and pun and satirize and play humorous games with words and images in order to provoke laughter-that was his greatest strength, his defining talent, his unique contribution to the composite soul of the planet" -Tom Robbins
"...to go into yourself and test the deeps in which your life takes rise; at its source you will find the answer to the question whether you MUST create. Accept it, just as it sounds, without inquiring into it. Perhaps it will turn out that you are called to be an artist. Then take that destiny upon yourself and bear it, its burden and its greatness, without ever asking what recompense might come from outside. For the creator must be a world for himself and find everything in himself and in Nature to whom he has attached himself."
My first night in New York I ventured out solo, jumped in a cab to Union Square and hit up a great Of Montreal show, thanks to some friends of my Chicago friends who happened to have an extra ticket. Thanks Cherney!
This is the first in a long line of new york shots that you are about to see put up. These were taken towards the end of the trip. Why you say would i choose to do the end first?...well, the end was what i was most excited about. This night was filled with sloshing through a major amount of slush in Soho late at night to find a bar that I had never been to...a mirage of sorts which is how it ended up feeling when I arrived. A wonderful magical night!
I'm a friendly, enthusiastic person with an eye for color. I love my dog, my family, my friends, the mountains and the ocean. I call Wyoming home, love the smell of horses and the taste of red wine. I look forward to the future.
