Dinner Party

Ryan decided to throw a dinner party on Wednesday for some friends that traveled through the area...

...three fried chickens later, they were having a pumpkin carving knife fight in the kitchen.

Snowy Peaks

It's happened! ...it happens every year, but it's always an exciting thing to see!

The mountains were invisible for a few days and then...

..yep, you guessed it, it all cleared up and there is now a solid layer of snow on top of them.

I bet a lot of people are a whole lot of excited right now!

...it's windy!!

While we were following the Pony Express Trail earlier this year, (click here to see that post) we drove next to a rather large dust storm happening about a quarter mile away. This photo is a hard translation of that distance, but I have faith that your imaginative mind will fill in the blanks!

It was a beautiful thing, and quite! ...from a distance.

This week, so far.

Hi!

Sorry for the pause in blogging ...sometimes not having an at home, working computer can really make posting difficult.

Here are a few random things that you may or may not want to know about this week:

*Hello, winter! Today we woke up to snow on the ground.
*I have been sewing bubble skirts all morning!
*My sister, mother and I are planning to get together in Saint Louis soon!! The reason? ...yay, my adorable nephew is turning 1!
*Dingo has a staph infection. Go ahead, make a sad face here.
*I had to put my new sewing machines away for the first time last night and it made me sad ...but the house looks better all cleaned up than it did covered in crafts.
*I had to get a shot yesterday, and I had a bandaid on my shoulder all day to prove it!
*I haven't been taking too many photos lately, not that much has caught my eye, hopefully the weather will change that!
*I made awesome, cheesy potato soup a few days ago.
*At the doctor's office I found out that I have gained weight ..for the first time since High School. I still don't know what to do with that unfortunate information.

..and

*Ryan is frying chicken for dinner tonight!! ..and we are having company!

Here is a fun shot that I have been saving for rainy (read: snowy) day.

Pink Sewing Machine #2!

Ok, ok ok ...I know that 1 pink sewing machine should be enough for any craft-loving female, but....

...I have been looking for a few weeks now for a great sewing table. I wandered through the DI yesterday on my lunch break and there it was, the perfect, small, in-wonderfully-great-shape sewing table ...for 20$!! Super exciting! I thought, "wow, what luck!"
And then I opened it up and ta-da!! ...there was a pink sewing machine inside just waiting for me!!

Two pink sewing machines! ...how fun. I know what I will be doing with my weekend :)

Here it is ..with a few other fun finds!

Birds on a wire

It seems that the street in front of my work is the cool place to hang out, bird-wise. I keep getting these cool bird vs. sky and wire shots while I am leaving in the afternoon.

Here is the latest.

Ghosts ..revisited

My spookie ghosts were very well received, and my sister requested a set be sent over to Missouri so that her family could enjoy them as well. Going a step beyond what I did before, I hand stamped some cute Halloween tags to be added! Maybe it is all in the detail ...because these turned out really cute!

Great Salt Lake; Last Spring

I found this image and would like to add it to the recent Great Salt Lake posts from 2 weeks ago. This is from a different area of the lake, and was taken off the shore of Antelope Island. We were there early enough in the year that there were not very many people, bugs or (unfortunately) buffalo.

Wasatch I-80

While driving to Park City a few days ago ...for the 3rd time ..in three days, I snapped this shot of the mountains. This is a beautiful place that we live in!

*I complain, but I DO really love that we live within 25 minutes of Park City :)

Bib!

One of my great BFF's from high school is having a baby(!!!), and this last weekend was her shower. I gifted her a cream crocheted afghan, not crocheted by me, and a set of wonderfully soft, pink striped, flannel bibs!! ...these were sewn by me, with my new atlas sewing machine!

I love how they turned out, and the little duck buttons just make me smile thinking about how cute they are!

Ghosts

Aside from an abundance of Christmas lights, I usually don't get too decorative for holidays, but I caught the Halloween bug this year and have been busy hand stitching ghosts!

Here is the finished product!

Crafty Fall

Since the weather has turned cooler, I have been extra inspired. There is so many ideas bouncing around in my head; I am trying to get them out and created as fast as I can. One of the blogs I like to read, Design Mom, had this post recently Hanging Artwork, which inspired me to do some Calligraphy names of my own:

I also went and scrounged around the DI for some small, unique frames, and I am looking forward to putting up a frame collage!

Thanks, Design Mom!

Because my company deals with China so much, the Chinese-English translation blips are always coming up. Here is one I like from engrish.com.

Great Salt Lake I

I talked Ryan into buying a fun new app for his phone while we were driving out to Saltair last Wednesday. Here are some of the photos from that excursion; we bought some jerky and walked out to the water in the wind, as the sun set. It was really nice.

Mother of all garage sales!

Sunday morning, after sleeping in a little, I dragged Ryan and Dingo to a garage sale down the street from my house that advertised "craft stuff". Awesome. After an hour digging through all the awesome stuff and making friends with the woman hosting the event, I came back home with this beauty of a sewing machine, and a box of wooden spools of thread. This garage sale immediately reinforced my love of them.

Awesome new sewing machine!!! Cannot wait to use it!

Great threads! ...I plan on making a display of them when I have room!

Midnight last night.

me: Are you home?
Ryan: yes.
me: Why haven't you come in and said hi to me yet?
pause.
Ryan: I'm writing "I love you," in leaves.
